In celebration of WorldWide Pinhole Day (WPPD)* CPAC, Processus and Tilt Shift presents a family-friendly pinhole workshop in downtown Denver. This is a camera-building, photo-taking, and print-developing event to celebrate and create one-of-a-kind images.

• Make your own Camera (optional)
  Make your own pinhole camera! Ashlae Shaepler, founder of Tilt Shift and pinhole-camera master, will teach the basics of making a pinhole camera. Bring an object to assemble your own! Soda cans, cereal boxes, and oatmeal cans are good choices. Have something unique you want to convert into a camera? Bring it on!
• Shoot & Print
  Aim your camera and print your picture in a traditional darkroom. Have a pinhole camera? Join the fun - come shoot and print with us. Volunteers and instructors will be available to help you through the process.  Wear an apron or shirt that can get wet.
• Share your unique pinhole images
  Join thousands of participants around the globe! We will be scanning and uploading your images to share with pinhole enthusiasts around the world.

1. What is pinhole photography?

A pinhole camera is a simple camera without a lens and with a single small aperture, a pinhole – effectively a light-proof box with a small hole in one side. Light from a scene passes through this single point and projects an inverted image on the opposite side of the box. (from Wikipedia).

It is completely dark on all the other sides of the box including the side where the point is created. This part is usually painted black, but black boxes are also used for this purpose. There is also a thin screen which looks like a projector sheet, and is put in between the dark side adjacent to the pinhole.
